Technology In Early Childhood
Technology In Early Childhood Education
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months and continued breastfeeding for as long as possible. Growing up milks are formulated to meet nutrition needs of healthy young children older than 1 year and should not be fed to infants.
During infancy and early childhood, infants and babies communicate and interact with people around them, the way they do with toys and dummies. All of these various aspects of interactions stand for human communication and derive from the great need of children to play, experiment and explore things freely.
With all the technological advances and achievements today, technology managed to make its gradual entry to the world of infants and babies. Then, exploring technological devices and interactive social media, and clicking on buttons and control keys became a must and an acknowledged way to support the growth of babies and educate them.
In order to maximize the efficient role of technology in babies’ learning, you should relate it to communicating and interacting with adults, while taking into consideration the following permissions and limitations:
- Allow your babies to explore digital devices in the context of their human interactions with others and in presence of a mediator or an adult instructor. In other words, use the times dedicated for playing with technological devices, as an opportunity to talk with your babies, teach them new terms and enable them to properly use technological devices.
- Avoid negative screen times. Studies and researches didn’t confirm what few parents say about the capacity of electronic videos to settle down fussy and upset babies; however they did acknowledge the capacity of parents’ care and attention to relieve any discomfort.
- Use technology as a positive and efficient way to show your babies the pictures of family, friends, animals and things around them and everywhere in the world.
- Use the different types of digital files to record your babies’ development and progress.
- Do not allow your babies and young children to spend lots of their time on technological devices.
- Choose safe and hard technological devices and tools which can be difficult to damage or disassemble.
By taking into consideration the above mentioned points and aspects of babies using technology devices, be sure that you will be able to promote your own babies’ learning and growth during childhood and the following stages of life, especially that introducing them to the world of technology at this age can develop their skills and make them more opened and more prone to cope with the demands of the new era.
