When to introduce water and how to encourage its consumption?

Healthy babies do not need extra water. Breast milk provides all the fluids they need. However, with the introduction of solid foods at the weaning phase (6 months), water can be added to your baby's diet in small sips after meals. Also, a small amount of water may be needed in very hot weather.
